Easy Queso Recipe for Taco Night!

If you love cheese and/or Mexican cuisine you will love queso.  Typically more of a "tex-mex" appetizers this is a crowd pleaser for sure and easy to make too!




1 Tablespoon of butter

1/2 cup of yellow/white onion finely diced

1 jalapeno finely chopped

3 cloves of garlic minced

1 1/4 cup of whole (3.25%) milk

1 cup of cheddar (grated)

1 1/2 cup of Monterrey jack (grated)

3-4 oz of cream cheese

3 sprigs of cilantro finely chopped

Optional: pico de gallo for topping



  • Add butter to pan on medium heat
  • Once butter is melted add onion and jalapeno cook for 3 minutes
  • Add garlic cook for 1 minute
  • reduce heat to low/simmer
  • Add in cream cheese and 1 cup of milk
  • Stir continously
  • Once cream cheese and milk are combined add cheese a 1/2 cup at a time and blend slowly
  • Once you are satisfied with the amount of cheese and the texture, remove from heat and stir in 1/4 of milk
  • Stir in cilantro
